NEW YORK, Jan. 29 /PRNewswire/ -- Couldn't escape from work or family last week to attend Haute Couture Spring/Summer 2008 Fashion Week in Paris? Can't run off to New York next week for Mercedes Benz Fashion Week? No probleme! One luxury apparel brand, The Worth Collection, Ltd., is bringing Fashion Week to you.

Worth, which designs and shows four collections per year of couture-inspired, ready-to-wear fashions, is bringing its Spring/Summer 2008 collection to cities across the country over the next several months via chic trunk shows. Finally, there's a hassle-free way for fashion-conscious, on-the-go women to learn about the season's key trends, see those trends brought to life in sophisticated and wearable styles and plan their wardrobes without having to leave town or pore over fashion magazines.

According to Diane Manley, Vice President of Design at The Worth Collection, looking runway-chic and modern each season is easy. Says Manley, "The key is to start with high-quality, classic anchor pieces like pants and suits and update them each season with a few, fresh trend pieces that have staying power."

So what are those pieces? Following are the season's key trends and Manley's suggestions for what to buy now to update your wardrobe so you'll look chic and modern this spring and summer:

-- '70s Glam: Think Yves Saint Laurent designs from the era and the Studio
54 look. Underscoring the trend, Christian Dior's show in Paris
featured a mix of music from Led Zeppelin and Jimi Hendrix, and Eli
Saab's couture collection "could have been an ode to the James Bond
film, Diamonds Are Forever," according to Fashion Week Daily.
-- Get the Look with Worth: the Pique Biker Jacket in yellow or
orange, the A-line Sonic Slicker in ivory or black and the Dinner
Poncho in white or black silk charmeuse to wear with highwaisted
pants or glam-rock jeans and a pair of stilettos.
-- Buds and Blooms: Flowers were positively blossoming on the Paris
runways with Valentino showing dresses and gowns featuring large
florals but in subdued shades of pink, lavender and yellow and John
Galliano at Dior gracing his dresses and gowns with rows of magnificent
    sculpted fabric roses.
-- Get the Look from Worth: The Mini Floral Cinch Waist Shirt, the
Dahlia Bouquet and Orchid Ice Floral Silk Squares, which look chic
worn as blouses, and a jacket structured in the shape of a flower
     petal.
-- Shimmer and Shine:  Look for anything with sequins and crystals as
demonstrated by the dazzling glamour gowns shown by Elie Saab, as well
as glossy satins, charmeuse, lacquered buttons, glazed linens and soft
lamb leathers with a natural gleam.
-- Get the Look from Worth: The Shimmer Dinner Jacket in ivory or
black, the beaded and sequined Fishscale Shell with deep V back in
electric pink or black, the Dolman Sleeve Wrap Blouse in laminated
cotton voile and the Halfmoon Luster Trench in rain-treated
    metallic cotton.
-- Retro-Safari: "Think Carole Lombard as an archaeologist," says Manley
about the actress known as much for her earthy sense of humor as her
film career and love affair with Clark Gable. Look for tweeds, textures
and metallic-glazed linens in sophisticated silhouettes and shades of
green, khaki and ivory spruced up with pops of color in key lime,
    dahlia, aqua and ice blue.
-- Get the Look from Worth: The Fichu Jacket and Peg Skirt in
metallic tweed, a paper-finished leather cargo "shacket" and the
Bacall Swing Jacket and Skirt in champagne-colored natural gloss
    linen.
-- Technicolor: Bright, cheerful, optimistic color was all over the
runways in Paris. John Galliano showed gowns in bright purple and red,
Lacroix had gowns in parrot green and fuchsia and Armani Prive's gowns
ranged in color from a magnificent royal purple to a dramatic lipstick
    red.
-- Get the Look from Worth: the Snappy Jacket or Shimmer Jacket in
royal blue or bombshell pink and the Leather Cool-Down Jacket in
     bright yellow or orange.
-- Sheer Bliss: Translucent textiles and filmy fabrics in sheer styles as
shown by Chanel, whose collection featured super light fabrics and
chiffon cocktail dresses, and Givenchy, which showed a glorious evening
    gown in sheer tulle.
-- Key Pieces from Worth: The Ruffle Bolero in white silk organza,
the Shimmer Wrapper, a wrap jacket in white or navy silk lurex
chiffon, and the Scene Stealer Skirt in black tulle with white
floral embroidery.  "The name says it all," says Manley.
