(NewsUSA) - With lower temperatures and higher energy prices, many Americans wonder how they will stay warm this winter. But many couples might discover that they can keep warm and cut costs while also finding "together time."

Here are some tips for Americans hoping to keep warm relationships this winter:

- Cuddle up. Going out for dinner and a movie is often pricey, especially when you consider transportation costs. So why not find ways to reconnect at home? Instead of going out for that movie, rent or watch a film to enjoy at home. Popping your own popcorn will save money, while cuddling on the couch with your partner will help you keep warm.

- Make a warm drink. When it's nippy outside but raising the thermostat will cut your budget, try sharing a hot drink with your partner. One company, Magic Power Coffee (http://www.MagicPowerCoffee.com), combines coffee beans with Epimedium herb, ginseng and Goji berries, herbs long thought to induce euphoria, stamina and energy, not to mention romance.

- Make a romantic dinner. Digesting food warms the body, so try cooking a romantic dinner for your partner on a cold winter night. Hearty fare, like soups and stews, will help you both feel warm and energized. Be sure to include a healthy protein for added, long-term energy. Add garlic at your own discretion.

- Light a fire. If you have a fireplace that's safe to use, take advantage of your good fortune. Buy some scented logs, then curl up with your loved one by the fire.

- Get active. Exercise and competition will help you ignore any lingering chill. Bundle up, then take a brisk walk with your loved one. If there's snow on the ground, try sledding, starting a snowball fight or making snow angels. Or pour some wine -; alcohol makes you feel warmer -; and start a heated game of Twister. Another alternative? Light some candles and enjoy a slow dance at home.

- Snuggle under the covers. Share body heat along with a good book.
