VENTURA, Calif., March 21 /PRNewswire/ -- Aquea Scientific Corporation announced the launch of its patented Aquea Delivery System(TM) and associated compositions. The Aquea Delivery System(TM) enables cosmeceutical additives that efficaciously deposit ingredients onto skin or hair via face wash, body wash, shampoo or conditioning products. This technology had eluded scientists in the cosmetics and personal care industries for decades.

In developing the Aquea Delivery System, the major challenge was getting surfactant products - which are designed to remove dirt and oils - to successfully apply an ingredient onto skin or hair while maintaining performance cleansing and lathering characteristics. Aquea Scientific's patented breakthrough has wide-ranging potential with slated wash-on active ingredients(TM) including bug repellent, acne treatments, bronzers and skin lighteners, among others.

Aquea SPF(TM) - a proprietary ingredient that allows personal care brand marketers to enhance body and hair care products with UVA and UVB protection - is the first of the wash-on actives(TM) fully commercialized using the patented technology. Aquea SPF provides all day protection of SPF 2 to SPF 20, depending on formulation and manner of use. Early adopting customers will begin rolling out products containing Aquea SPF in the latter half of 2006.

Research has shown that daily use of products that provide SPF 5 defense beginning in childhood can reduce lifetime exposure to UV radiation by more than 50 percent. Even if begun during adulthood, there is substantial cumulative effect in protecting against wrinkles and aging caused by UVA exposure and reduced risk of skin cancer associated with UVB exposure by using products containing SPF. Aquea SPF provides sun protection without substantially affecting the appearance and lathering qualities of original face wash, body wash, shampoo, or conditioning products.

"It was a challenge for us to create a method of combining active ingredients such as sunscreens with other personal care products that have aqueous environments," said David Compton, president and CEO of Aquea Scientific Corporation and a co-developer of the patented technology. "We spent more than 15 years developing Aquea SPF and have succeeded where many other cosmetics developers have failed due to the innate difficulties involved. We look forward to partnering with cosmetics and personal care companies to combine the unique benefits of Aquea SPF with everyday cleansing products."

Aquea Scientific has received enthusiastic responses from leading cosmetics and personal care companies interested in introducing face and body washes, soaps, shampoos and other hair care products that employ the patented Aquea Delivery System.
