Essential Bodywear and Women-In-Need Partner to Give NY Homeless Women New Bras

New York City, Feb. 8, 2006 - The two founders of a Michigan business that provides high-quality undergarments personally fit 300 homeless New York women at the city shelters this week.

Essential Bodywear's CEO Carrie Charlick: "When women are struggling for basic needs like food and shelter, a high-quality, good fitting bra is something they would never consider buying for themselves. By providing a critical wardrobe staple, Essential Bodywear helped these women feel better about their appearance, and confidently prepare for job interviews, school or whatever may be next in their lives."

Essential Bodywear LLC, is a Michigan based company focused on teaching women that the right supportive undergarments are equally important as the clothes they wear over them, partnered with Women-In-Need, a New York based nonprofit serving women who are homeless and disadvantaged. The partnership provided three hundred women with high-quality bras and undergarments personally fitted to their bodies in February at Women-In-Need (WIN) shelters in New York City.

Undergarments are the single most overlooked item in most women's wardrobes, in fact, 85% of women in America wear an ill-fitting bra.
Essential Bodywear treated struggling women at three WIN shelters with respect and kindness while providing personal, one-on-one fittings, ensuring that the bras the ladies receive fit perfectly and helping boost their self-esteem.

Most women view buying a bra like going to the dentist – not very enjoyable, perhaps even painful, but necessary for their personal health. Essential Bodywear made the process easy and fun for residents at the Women-In-Need shelters. Essential Bodywear's founders, Carrie Charlick and Marcia Negro, personally conducted the private fittings this coming week at various Women-In-Need shelters.
