Lord and Taylor Launches Black Brown 1826(TM) Menswear Collection

NEW YORK, Aug. 21 /PRNewswire/ -- Jane Elfers, President and CEO of Lord and Taylor announced today the launch of Black Brown 1826(TM), Lord and Taylor's exclusive menswear collection, created by celebrated fashion designer Joseph Abboud. The line, available in 44 doors and at http://www.blackbrown.com, will be advertised in September and featured in Lord and Taylor's fashion catalogues for men. Explaining the label's unusual name, Elfers said: "Black and brown are representative of great men's colors: street smart and country wise. And 1826 is the date in which Lord and Taylor was founded."

Black Brown 1826(TM) is a modern lifestyle collection inspired in classic Americana but with elements for the modern man. Bearing an elegant brown label, it consists of both collection and classification sportswear as well as dress furnishings and tailored clothing. Collection Sportswear features patterns like glen plaid, Scottish fairisles and houndstooth checks and it includes sweaters, sportshirts, knitwear, pants and outerwear. The line also features key item programs for cashmere and merino sweaters, corduroy pants, jeans and outerwear. In furnishings the offerings include dress shirts, neckwear, belts, pajamas, and hosiery. Tailored Clothing consists of suits, sportcoats, blazers, trousers and topcoats. Outerwear includes both wool jackets and coats as well as nylon jackets while mufflers and gloves are offered as Cold Weather Accessories. Black and Brown 1826(TM) also offers Menswear Classics, a compilation of the wardrobe essentials that should be found in every man's closet, timeless American styles as khaki pants, navy blazers, Oxford shirts and Argyle socks, among others.

In addition, Lord and Taylor's top 9 doors will also offer Black Brown 1826(TM)'s L.U.X., fashion forward in styling and detailing and constructed of luxurious yarns. Labeled in black, the L.U.X. product is comprised of tailored clothing, dress shirts and neckwear made from Italian fabrics. Cashmere is a key element in rich textured sweaters, sportcoats, topcoats, mufflers and gloves. The L.U.X. line will also have a full sportswear collection aimed at a better consumer with premium ticket prices and it will offer Made-to-Measure dress shirts.

Lord and Taylor will display Black Brown 1826(TM), in its Fifth Avenue Windows, August 29 to September 22. "We are so proud of Black Brown 1826(TM) that we will showcase it during New York's Fashion Week," Elfers said. "This is a first for the store but we wanted the entire industry to see how fabulous the collection is." A selection from the line's Fall collection will be shown on exclusive metallic mannequins from Ralph Pucci, among furniture and accessory pieces from Tucker Robbins.
