(NewsUSA) - If you aren't sure where to begin when it comes to home décor, you aren't alone. Many people who are looking to revamp their home's look for the New Year are confused and intimidated by flash-in-the-pan trends that can come and go in the blink of an eye.

To help guide those people, the interior designers and industry experts of the Levolor Trend Team recently announced their 2008 Home Décor Trend Forecast. This report highlights five décor trends that you can easily apply to your home by updating your window fashions, adding accessories or refreshing fabrics on upholstered pieces.

Contemporary design and green living have become overarching influences throughout all home décor, as demonstrated in the following five trends provided by Levolor:

* Swank. This trend, geared for today's fashionistas, highlights rich velvets, animal prints and pleated details as well as fringes on fabrics. Colors are monochromatic and glamorous -; and help create a VIP look in any room you choose.

* Studio. This trend features graphic prints and geometric shapes that delight the senses, and clean lines that help define open floor plans. Homeowners can expect to see more bold colors and exciting patters in 2008 home décor looks. The result is very contemporary styling that shifts from an orange to a pink palette for added pops of color.

* Haven. This trend, heavily influenced by nature, features botanical patterns, knobby textures and a natural color palette to help homeowners create a peaceful environment. River rocks, imperfect wood pieces and hints of lavender can be used to help create this trendy look.

* Refined. Retro-opulence is the new cool in 2008. Consumers will use confectionary pastels, jeweled accessories, regal metallics and mirrors to create over-the-top glamour. Look for more classic moldings and feminine damask throughout homes in the next 12 months.

* Artisan. Handcrafted details rule in the Artisan décor trend -; where no two rooms are the same. Vintage colors from pottery terracotta to dark mocha are heavily used in this look and can be accomplished by adding accessories to any room.
