The Connect 18 program is an innovative method of using a specialized educational video courses designed to be viewed while riding a stationary cycle. You can chisel away at your physique as you fold a few new wrinkles into your brain. The educational material is integrated with physical exercise instruction and taught in the context of a cycling tour. Riders tour region of the world that are relevant to the subject matter being taught. For example, on a beginner's Spanish language tour, cyclists may find themselves cycling through rural Mexican villas while they learn language, culture and history.

A Ride Walk-Through and Facts About the Program

• Connect18 sessions are currently either 45 or 50 minutes in length.

• The class consists of interactive travel segments, of several minutes in length, interspersed with virtual tour stops, also several minutes in length.

• During an interactive travel segment, the exerciser sees real motion video (not computer graphics), moving along roadways or paths in the area they are traveling. Connect18 utilizes proprietary technology to change the speed of the motion video playback based on exercise rate (in our current implementation form, the pedaling speed of the instructor). This makes it such that if the exerciser (or instructor who is leading them) works harder, they move faster through the terrain.

• During a virtual tour stop the exerciser will visit a place, see walking footage, watch interviews, and be presented with educational content.

• The exertion level during travel segments is unrestricted. In the group setting it is determined by a certified instructor. The exertion level during the tour stops is targeted at the moderate aerobic (fat-burning) level.

• Connect18 will be launching its group cycling rides at the Bay Club San Francisco this Spring. It will then begin a campaign to spread the program nationwide by the end of 2007.

• For more information on bringing Connect18 to your facility, email john@connect18.com.

• Connect18 will be joining AVNow in their double booth at IHRSA 2007 in San Francisco. Connect18 will also be offering demonstrations to interested club owners at its downtown San Francisco studio. Please email john@connect18.com to schedule a demonstration during IHRSA.
