Actor Jeremy Piven to Host Awards Gala NEW YORK, March 28 /PRNewswire/ -- The Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) announced yesterday that Francisco Costa for Calvin Klein, Lazaro Hernandez and Jack McCollough for Proenza Schouler, and Marc Jacobs for Marc Jacobs have been nominated for the Womenswear Designer of the Year award. The 2006 CFDA Fashion Awards winners will be announced at the annual gala, underwritten by Swarovski, on June 5th at The New York Public Library. This year's gala will be hosted by Entourage star Jeremy Piven. The official announcement was made last night at an exclusive event at the Rooftop Gardens on top of Rockefeller Center, which was hosted by the CFDA Board of Directors and Nadja Swarovski. In addition, Thom Browne, Ralph Lauren, and Alexandre Plokhov for Cloak have been nominated for the Menswear Designer of the Year award, while Tom Binns, Marc Jacobs for Marc Jacobs and Michael Kors have been nominated for the Accessory Designer of the Year award. Doo-Ri Chung, Kate and Laura Mulleavy for Rodarte, and Thakoon Panichgul have been nominated for Swarovski's Perry Ellis Award for Womenswear. The nominees for Swarovski's Perry Ellis Award for Menswear are Steven Cox & Daniel Silver for Duckie Brown, Nathan Bogle, David Neville & Marcus Wainwright for Rag & Bone, and Jeff Halmos, Josia Lamberto-Egan, Sam Shipley and John Whitledge for Trovata. For Swarovski's Perry Ellis Award for Accessory Design the nominees are Devi Kroell, Alyssa Norton, and Jessie Randall for Loeffler Randall. The winner in each category will receive generous financial support and product from Swarovski, as well as exposure to the company's vast and innovative crystal resources. This year's special award honorees are: Eleanor Lambert Award - Joan Kaner, former senior vice president & fashion director, Neiman Marcus Eugenia Sheppard Award - Bruce Weber International Award - Olivier Theyskens for Rochas Board of Directors' Special Tribute - Stephen Burrows Lifetime Achievement - Stan Herman "This year's nominees and honorees reflect the vitality and variety that is the core of the American fashion industry," said Steven Kolb, the executive director of the CFDA. "The 2006 CFDA Fashion Awards will be a celebration of these designers' distinctive artistry and achievements." The nominees and honorees were selected by the CFDA membership, press, retailers and stylists. The nominees, as well as recipients of the honorary awards, were confirmed yesterday at a meeting of the CFDA Board of Directors. This year's Awards Selection Committee will be able to vote on-line and view each nominee's collection beginning April 24 at http://www.cfda.com/, the official website of the 2006 CFDA Fashion Awards. The final votes will be tabulated by Ernst & Young LLP, the official accounting firm of the 2006 CFDA Fashion Awards. The winners will be announced at the June 5 Awards gala. The 2006 CFDA Fashion Awards will be produced by KCD. Creative director Douglas Lloyd of Lloyd + Co will art direct the graphic presentation of the awards and accompanying journal. Related Articles
