NEW YORK, Sept. 6 /PRNewswire/ -- BRIDES magazine has announced that it will hold its first-ever "Something Pink" gown sale in New York City on October 4th, 5th, and 6th in support of the Making Memories Breast Cancer Foundation, an organization founded to grant final wishes to women with stage IV breast cancer and their families.

The BRIDES/Making Memories Breast Cancer Foundation gown event will feature thousands of designer wedding dresses available at amazingly affordable prices all made possible by the generous donations of top designers, bridal salons, manufacturers, and brides. Lotus Space, at 122 West 26th Street in New York City, will be home to the three-day event.

Millie Martini Bratten, editor in chief of BRIDES, says, "BRIDES is thrilled to partner with MMBCF in this fund-raising effort of women helping women. With this gown sale we hope to harness the power of the wedding dress-- an icon viewed around the world as a symbol of hope for the future--to impact the lives of seriously ill women in a positive way."

Making Memories Breast Cancer Foundation's co-founder and executive director Fran Hansen says, "The magnitude of this partnership and its potential to raise awareness and funds for the foundation far exceeds my expectations. I realized long ago at each gown sale that people see beautiful, amazing gowns, while I see wishes. My belief is through the 'Something Pink' campaign, the foundation will be able to grant wishes for years to come and we'll raise greater awareness about the organization and its mission."

The "Something Pink" gown sale kicks off on October 4th at 6:30 p.m. with a special VIP preview sale for brides-to-be hosted by the editors of BRIDES. In addition to a first pick of gorgeous gowns, attendees will enjoy an evening of shopping with BRIDES editors, a gift bag valued at more than $300, and a chance to win a luxurious honeymoon from the Maui Visitors Bureau, which includes five nights at the hotel Hana-Maui, round-trip airfare, convertible- car rental, and a romantic dinner for two. Tickets for the preview sale are limited and are priced at $200, which includes admission for one plus a guest. Tickets for the general gown sale on October 5th and 6th are $20 and will be sold for two-hour time slots, from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.; this includes admission for one and a guest. An additional guest pass may be purchased for $15.00. Merchandise will be replenished throughout the day.

All tickets for "Something Pink" events and more information on the campaign are available through http://www.brides.com/somethingpink.

Making Memories Breast Cancer Foundation is a nonprofit organization founded in 1998 to advance the awareness of breast cancer. The MMBCF hosts 32 gown sales per year, which are made possible by women who donate their wedding gowns in the spirit of celebrating other women and helping to make a difference in their lives. Bridal shops and manufacturers also donate hundreds of beautiful, new designer gowns every month. For more information on BABC, please log on to http://www.makingmemories.org.
