NEW YORK, July 25 /PRNewswire/ -- According to a national study, 75 percent of American women say that free samples drive the purchase of beauty products (up from 61 percent last year). In fact, sampling is a greater driver of purchase than product reviews, recommendations from beauty advisors, and TV advertising.

To that end, Allure is giving away more than 16,000 beauty and fashion products throughout August.

The August issue, on sale July 25, includes a calendar detailing the giveaways and sweepstakes. Products range from Kate Hudson's cover makeup by Elizabeth Arden, to editors' favorite beauty picks, to a coveted $1,850 Marc Jacobs bag.

Allure's free stuff blowout also marks the kickoff of a new interactive feature on allure.com. Each day Allure will send personal reminders straight to readers' cell phones, ensuring no one misses an opportunity to sample these must-have products or win a designer accessory. By texting the words "FREE STUFF" to 47988, readers will receive a daily reminder on their cell phone to enter the day's giveaway.
