Ailin Fuses Eco-Conscious Lifestyle with Fashionable Outerwear Collection

New York, NY (August 2006) – Believing that their environmentally friendly clothing line should also be supported by an environmentally conscious business, Ailin (pronounced: eye-leen) has spent the last two years establishing themselves in New York City as an eco-inspired, sustainable clothing and lifestyle brand. Ailin’s intention is to encourage participation with the outdoors by catering to active and dynamic women. The clothing line is designed for the surf and outdoor enthusiast who is both stylish and graceful in performance. By working out of an eco-friendly workspace that includes natural lighting, recycled workstations, and bamboo furnished floors, Ailin exudes the type of lifestyle that its customers embrace and respect.

Ailin’s products are environmentally conscious in all stages of their production. From the extraction and creation of the raw materials to the manufacture and distribution of each piece, Ailin aims to make each stage of production eco-friendly. Most commonly, PCD (post-consumer downcycled) filament yarn is used in the products of their line. Highly advanced chemical downcycling of PET (polyethylene terephthalate) bottles and other polyester products such as fibers and films are spun into highly pure polyester raw material. Ailin extends its dedication to providing an eco-friendly clothing line by printing their letterhead, envelopes, packaging and hangtags on partially recycled fiber (25% post-consumer waste), and using a soy-based ink.

The 100% sustainable Fall 2006 Ailin collection is designed with the versatility and adventurous nature of surf and outdoor enthusiasts in mind. The vision of this season’s homage to Austria gives women modern, fitted cuts in the light and airy shades of white, crème, and gray - a timeless color palette inspired by the idea of a relaxing vacation complete with yoga, backpacking, wine drinking, fireplace lounging, running, and skiing in the Alps. Military jackets, cropped board shorts, and dressed-up pencil skirts demonstrate Ailin’s fusion of active-wear and ready-to-wear clothing. Ailin also features performance-specific outdoors pieces such as lightweight snowboarding pants and weather-resistant, soft shell jackets. Ailin’s trademark environmentally-friendly materials allow the customer to move easily, comfortably and flawlessly whether hiking in the mountains or warming up after a day spent surfing.

Ailin’s core market consists of stylish eco-friendly supporters, as well as accomplished climbers, mountaineers, extreme skiers, surfers and explorers. By selling their products in premium-sporting goods retailers and specialty fashion boutiques, Ailin reaches targeted consumers as well as exposes their brand to a variety of buyers. Ailin stands out as a fashion- and eco-conscious clothing line by inviting the consumer to participate in an active and inspiring lifestyle.

Erin Bell, the founder and creative designer of Ailin, is an active alpine climber and surfer. Her intention and desire to create a multi-functional active-wear line for women that has a high wearability, integrates sustainability throughout each phase of development, while never compromising style, is what has fueled the launch of Ailin two years ago. The name Ailin is a representation of Erin’s Chinese name, which she acquired while living in China and learning to speak Mandarin. In Chinese, Ailin means “compassion for nature” – revealing itself as the natural and organic label for the clothing line.
